A Court of Splintered Harmony by Sarah J Maas review

🪩😈🪩✨

3.5/5

“I am not a victim, and I do not see any of you as ganging up on me. I see you as a bunch of idiots who are holding a grudge at a time when such things are pointless.”

This review features spoiler from Maas’s previous novels.

The sixth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series follows the Inner Circle as they deal with the impending arrival of Koschei, the potential war between Fae and humans and the daunting realisation that perhaps they aren’t all on the same side.

A Court of Splintered Harmony is clearly a filler book which acts as a bridge between Silver Flames and Forgotten Melody, this doesn’t make it any less enjoyable and with familiar characters, new fears and blossoming romances it sets up the new novel wonderfully.

It’s the first time we have a novel that features chapters from Azriel’s point of view and with half the fanbase intrigued and the other half wishing we never heard from the moody, brooding Shadowsinger it shows how talented Maas is at creating characters in that he so drastically splits opinions.

Nesta is a standout in this ACOSH and it’s a wonder the oldest Archeron sister hasn’t abandoned the inner circle and set up camp at House of Wind with the way they behaved after her interaction with Crescent City’s Bryce Quinlan. Full government name only, please.

Everyone’s favourite Cursebreaker Feyre is struggling with life as a new mother, her responsibilities as High Lady and the new war that is brewing as well as her relationship with Rhysand. One thing that Maas refuses to do in her novels, which is refreshing in the realm of romantasy, is have her characters and their love interests lead a life without arguments. From Feyre and Rhys to Nesta and Cassian, the relationships of the inner circle are not without fall outs and rows; it’s a welcome change from a smooth-sailing romance and far more relatable for the readers.

A Court of Splintered Harmony opened up a whole adventure for the Archerson sisters and their Fae friends and invited far more questions, theories and dramas that the characters and fans are prepared for. Bring on January and A Court of Forgotten Melody.
