These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan book review

“Ah, what are the shadow fae good for but foolish dreams and ghoulish nightmares?”

Brie has never been a fan of the Fae but when she thieves from the wrong person she finds herself forced to live in the world of Faerie.
Not only is she trapped in her own hell but she must find a way to win a Fae Princes’ heart or risking losing everything.

The Faerie world is a interesting one and although it isn’t particularly unusual – Seelie Court vs Unseelie Court, Gold vs Silver, Night vs Day etc – it still feels fresh and fascinating.
The two male love interests; one with the fair hair and kind nature against the devilish dark haired opposer may also be nothing new but if it ain’t broke, why fix it?
As a lead Brie falls into the “I’m not like other girls,” trope but she certainly improves as the novel goes on and by the end comes into her own.

The bonds, bargains and backgrounds of the characters are certainly the stronghold of These Hollow Vows.
Fae legends and fairytales are prevalent throughout and the whisper of curses and cruel pasts make for a compelling read.
The unexpected revelations had me gasping out loud, whilst some surprises aren’t all that shocking others will have you reeling till the very last page.

An absorbing first in the series, the sequel ‘These Twisted Bonds,’ is out next year and with the way These Hollow Vows ended the magic has only just begun.
