β€œThe difference between a diamond necklace and a diamond dog collar depends on the bitch. And they both have teeth, Monsieur.”

After the heartbreak of The Gilded Wolves our team of talented misfits are in disarray.
But a near impossible task requires them all to reunite and it’ll either heal them or tear them apart for good.

The Silvered Serpents is a lot darker then The Gilded Wolves but in many ways it makes it that much more beautiful.Β
Grief is a running theme for all the characters and leads to a tough read but loss and anguish never is easy to deal with.

The poetry of The Gilded Wolves continues in the sequel and with a new ice infused setting of Siberia, Chokshi has every opportunity to showcase her love for melodic and enchanting language – and she does so gloriously.Β
We see a little more of the characters’ histories and fears within The Silvered Serpents which only encourages our adoration and appreciation for them all.

As with the first novel the romance is desperate and deep but also frustrating when a new interest arrives and the ante is upped. The additional characters slot right in and although they serve as comic relief they also help the narrative along and play a part in the never ending plot twists.

A tricky sequel in that the lightness has gone but your love for the characters, the artistry and story remain; you simply want our protagonists to win.

As captivating as The Gilded Wolves but much more sinister; The Silvered Serpents is a strong second book that leaves you with a sense of fear of what is to come in the final installment of this devastating trilogy.
