LGBT and people of colour are represented in an open and honest way leading to a diverse and relatable ensemble. Enrique and Hypnos are sure to be fan favourites but it is fair to say the whole crew are worthy of the title.
The language used in The Gilded Wolves is captivating and moments of it read as poetry; creating the most bewitching of images that you’ll want to read again and again.
The dialogue is faultless and every joke lands; Chokshi even manages to make sarcasm clear which is never an easy task.
Myths from countless different cultures, religions and fantasies are intricately woven into the world building and though this can sometimes be confusing it also results in a rich magical universe.
With found family, a slow burn romance and revenge aplenty The Gilded Wolves is a smart start to a hopefully exhilarating fantasy series.
