Rhapsodic follows Callypso Lillis, a siren with much sought after powers, whose colourful past comes back to haunt her. When she was a teenager Callie called in a favour with the infamous Bargainer but one favour turned into hundreds. Seven years later The Bargainer decides to call in those magical IOUs, the only choice when it comes to The Bargainer is do – or die.

Character wise Rhapsodic offers a strong lead in the form of Callypso Lillis, a siren who is funny, bold and caring.
The love interest comes in the form of Desmond Flynn, he’s your classic dark and mysterious fae male with a bit of a temper and little patience.
Callie’s best friend Temper is a great addition to the characters and even Eli works well within the magical world.
Rhapsodic is essentially a fantasy crime drama with Callie and The Bargainer investigating the felony and the offence is certainly an intriguing one. This is where Rhapsodic is strongest; the world building is simple but slick and because Callie knows so little of The Otherworld, as Flynn educates her, he’s explaining it to the reader as well.
Surprisingly the weakness, for me, was within the romance. It’s true that Callie and The Bargainer have a history and yet it all felt rather quick; one minute Callie is using her powers and running her own business the next she’s practically a kept woman.
There is a little bit of spice in Rhapsodic, enough to excite and intrigue but Thalassa mainly keeps focus on the plot which is a smart move as The Bargainer series has a lot to offer.
Rumour has it the following books are where the tale comes into its own I’m expecting this star rating to sky rocket.
