Five years ago Winter Ashby sent Damon Torrance to prison. Now Damon is out and ready for revenge, but it turns out Winter isn’t the same scared girl she used to be. That’s fine for Damon, he’s always liked a challenge and from his experience – they all break eventually.

Winter is a compelling lead and it is intriguing to experience the world from her perspective. Although her being blind is an integral part of how Kill Switch unfolds, Damon does not act differently towards her and Winter never demands more.
Damon is the darkest of the dark. A vindictive deviant but with a past as harrowing and tortured as his you learn to sympathise with his pain and empathise with his thoughts.
Kill Switch is heavy, harsh and doesn’t hold back from delving into the disturbing. But it’s surprisingly warm too. Found family is an unanticipated aspect of Kill Switch and even amongst all of his horrors Damon has heart.
From enemies to lovers, miscommunication and revenge romance, Douglas has nailed some iconic tropes in an unconventional and unpredictable manner.
It’s a Devil Night novel so you know the steam will be spicy and Douglas saved some of the best for Damon’s story. Rough sex, threesomes and Voyeurism are all explored within Kill Switch and Douglas delivers them all with heat and dirt.
Between the main dark romance narrative a thriller of a story is built. Whilst the drama surrounding Damon and Winter is the focus, the plot involving all our favourite Devils Night characters is equally as gripping with too many surprises to count.
In truth the beauty lies is the way Douglas has written Damon Torrance. When we’re first introduced during Corrupt he is painted as an unstable, deceitful villain but by the end of Kill Switch you realise how quickly you judge when you know so little.
